We believe that academic success and true love of learning come from tapping into your child’s existing knowledge and supporting them in developing new areas of interest. To foster this love of learning we create a targeted tutoring curriculum based on student assessment and intake conversations with parents and teachers. We then combine your child’s interests and the school curriculum to create fun and relevant tutoring sessions that reinforce key study skills. 

To ensure your child gets the support they need, We assess their strengths and areas for growth, identify the specific set of skills on which to focus, and then use their schoolwork and homework as the basis for skill-building lessons. We also create additional mini-lessons as needed, designed to foster those skills and complement what your child is learning in school. This personalized instruction helps children build their independence and curiosity, elements that are absolutely critical for academic success.

We also work with students on their organizational skills, building their awareness of how their own actions can help them grow into independent learners and self-advocates. 

In our reading comprehension and fluency work, we develop lessons that encourage your student to explore their own interests. I select books that spark intrigue — inspiring lifelong learning, a love of reading, and curiosity in the world around them. We’re here to help your child grow and find confidence and joy in their learning. 

Consistent communication and alignment around educational goals are also necessary for student achievement. As a member of your child’s educational success squad, we will keep you informed of your child’s progress and roadblocks and can communicate with their teachers at school as needed.

Tutoring is about more than increasing subject mastery. It is a one-on-one or small group opportunity to develop work and study skills that will serve for a lifetime. When students find learning to be relevant, meaningful, and fun, they retain key concepts and skills long after our sessions together are over.
